I have been songwriting for almost thirty years now and I still get a thrill from getting an idea (and the occasional a flash of inspiration) then slowly building on, and moulding that idea and gradually expanding it into a fully fledged song. I am a great believer in the expression "Songwriting is 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration!

I am happiest in the studio & love the creative process of trying to get what is in my head & heart onto disc. Something that is not so easy for someone like me who cannot read or write a note of music. Fortunately my musical partner in crime is the amazingly talented John Bygrave who can play almost any instrument, is a superb studio engineer, AND has the patience of a saint with songwriters (his studio's speciality).

Without me, John would be an incredibly talented Musician/producer, without him I would not be making music. When you listen to my songs every single instrument you hear is being played and recorded by John. My only addition is any keyboard part requiring two fingers or less & the odd bit of drumming (my only instrument)

My love of pop music began when I was very young and the first records I ever bought were "Years may Come" by "Hermans Hermits" and "The Ressurection Shuffle" by "Ashton Gardner & Dyke" which had that amazing drum rythm at the start which I love to this day and I am using for my latest song which is next on the list to be recorded.

It is more particular "sounds" in records that have influenced me rather than any particular artist. Things like the drum intro I just mentioned, the Tambourine in "Dirty Postcards" by "The Korgis", The drum intro to "On My Radio" by "The Selector" and the wonderful drum sounds that were perfected by "The Alan Parsons Project".

I consider myself a songwriter first and formost and a singer a very distant second, but have been very pleased to have been likened to "The Korgis" "The Lightning Seeds" "Peter Noon" and my mum (God bless her) was once convinced they were playing me again on the local radio station and was surprised to find it was actually George Michael (I WISH : -)
